SWR Antenna Analyzers

Summer is almost here so now is the time to get out there and start building that antenna project you have been planning all winter. Now if you are into building your own antennas I would definitely invest in a SWR Antenna Analyzer. They vary in model according to the band or bands of frequencies you are planning on transmitting on. They also vary in price according to the features that they can accomplish. There some very good brands out there to choose from. Click on this link to go to the Amazon webpage and check out the different brands SWR ANALYZERS .

Here is a list below of some of the popular brands.

  1. MFJ
  2. Comet
  3. Rig Expert
  4. SainSonic
  5. Zchao
  6. Sunkee
  7. Yosoo
  8. Sark
If you would like to view a video to get a better understanding of what an swr analyzer can do. I would check out these links to youtube videos below.
This is definitely one tool I would invest in for your Ham Shack. It will most likely save you a lot of time locating problems with your antenna system throughout your Ham Radio Hobby. You can purchase various accessories such as dip coils, carrying pouch and an ac adapter. My advise would be to go to and check out the reviews on the various swr analyzers. This way you can get a good idea of what is good and bad. Now you can always go to Ebay and look for a used swr antenna analyzer. If you are interested here is a link to the Ebay website ANTENNA ANALYZERS. Just check out the seller before purchasing anything on Ebay. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of excellent purchases out there.

Turn That Mobile Ham Radio Into A Base Station

On one of my other blogs I talked about making a mobile radio into a base station. If you do not want to build a wooden box there is an alternative solution. It is a radio cabinet base station. It is made by samlex. It is a housing that allows you to mount various Mobile Ham Radios in with the addition of a samlex power supply. I was searching through my Ham Radio Outlet catalog and that is where I saw the base station radio cabinet. The unit on Amazon seems to come with the power supply. The one in Ham Radio Outlet does not have the power supply included from what I read. I can remember doing this sort of thing back in the 11 meter cb radio days. I remember having a sliding bracket mount that I would lock in the car and then slide it in at the base station. The other nice idea would be to use this on a field day event or in an emergency situation. I know that MFJ also makes a similar type of base station cabinet holder. This one can also be used in an emergency situation as well.
